Because eating disorders have deep roots in a person’s psychology and self-perception, they can be difficult to treat. Antidepressants have been shown to be effective in the treatment of bulimia as well as guided Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). At The Meadows Ranch, our focus is on treating the whole person, combining physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual approaches for holistic recovery from bulimia and any co-occurring disorders.

We provide the following:

  • Experiential therapies such as expressive arts, equine (ground work only; no riding), body image, and movement
  • Individual and group therapy with licensed master’s or doctoral-level clinicians
  • Consultations with a registered dietitian and care from registered nurses
  • An individualized treatment plan customized to the patient’s specific physical, psychiatric, and emotional needs
  • Treatment for co-occurring mental health or substance use conditions that may present alongside (or as a result of) bulimia nervosa, including addressing co-occurring trauma
  • Family involvement in the form of family work, where our clinicians work with both patients and their families to facilitate long-term healing, understanding, change, and support
  • Neuro- and biofeedback in our state-of-the-art Brain Center
  • A metabolic cart to measure carbon dioxide and oxygen levels in patients, providing detailed information on body function
