Accredited School During Treatment

Battling an eating disorder doesn’t just affect your body, your mind, and your relationships, it can also affect your education. Making progress in school while struggling with a serious illness isn’t easy. Some patients arrive having fallen behind in some courses, others have continued to excel but don’t want taking time out for treatment to derail their academic progress. Whatever your current educational status, we’ve found that addressing your eating disorder and any related issues usually results in greater academic success in the long run. That’s why we provided accredited schooling during treatment for our patients who are in 6th-12th grade.

Bringing the Classroom to You

Academic progress doesn’t have to be paused while you seek help from us. Alta Independent, our online learning partner, offers nearly 300 courses for middle school and high school students to help ensure Meadows Ranch patients don’t miss a beat. They are adept at working with students who are currently receiving care at a treatment center and want to continue making progress in their education.

“Academic progress doesn’t have to be paused while you seek help.”

How It Works

All students in 6th-12th grades are automatically enrolled in schooling through Alta Independent once we receive their transcripts from their current educational institution (this can usually be handled during the admission process). The educational experience at The Meadows Ranch allows students to advance at her own pace and choose from a broad array of coursework, including all major subjects, electives, and even SAT or ACT prep.

Students can choose between reading-based or video-based curriculum, and they use laptops to access the Alta Portal and unlock quizzes, exams, and assignments. Interaction between students and instructors happens in a variety of ways including phone calls, live chat, email, and web conferences. There is also tutoring available by request and a 30-day grace period after discharge to complete courses for credits through Alta Independent.
