Help for Adolescents at The Meadows Ranch

The Meadows Ranch has a proven track record of helping adolescent girls overcome their eating disorders and find a fulfilling life of recovery. We offer inpatient, residential, and partial-hospitalization levels of care for women and girls struggling with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, compulsive overeating, and related issues.

Through our bio-psycho-social-spiritual eating disorder treatment approach and clinical excellence, patients find the strength to confront their problems, gaining the tools and skills necessary to overcome their disorder. Long before they return home, we work them to create an aftercare plan that includes a support team to help them successfully continue their recovery. Based on feedback from patients, families, and professionals, the vast majority of our patients remain committed to a life of health, balance, and purpose.

Types of Eating Disorders We Treat

Anorexia

Anorexia nervosa is a complex problem and the most life-threatening of all psychiatric disorders. While the effects may be most noticeable physically, the disorder is actually a psychiatric one requiring care from those experienced in treating eating disorders.

Bulimia

Professional care is usually required to break the addictive binge/purge cycle, and our experienced staff can help address not just the behavior but the underlying causes of this dangerous eating disorder.

Binge Eating Disorder

At The Meadows Ranch we use a multidisciplinary approach to treat binge eating disorder, addressing all the possible factors that may be playing a role in this condition so patients can achieve not just temporary relief but lasting recovery.

Other Eating Disorders

Other food-related disorders, like avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, body image disorders, and food phobias, are becoming more and more commonly identified. Behaviors do not meet full criteria for any of the other feeding and eating disorders, but they still cause clinically significant problems.

The Importance of Addressing Co-occurring Conditions

Eating disorders often occur in tandem with other mental health disorders like depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and substance abuse. An eating disorder may be brought on or exacerbated by trauma, or it may cause depression. Substances like drugs or alcohol may play a role in an eating disorder, or they may be used to numb pain or sadness caused by the disorder.

Whether co-occurring disorders precede or are precipitated by eating disorders, it’s just as necessary to address these issues as to address the eating disorder itself in order to achieve lasting recovery. Co-occurring disorders or dual diagnosis treatment addresses any combination of more than one mental health disorder and/or addiction. If you only treat the eating disorder and leave co-occurring mental health problems to continue unchecked, long-term recovery is put at risk. That’s why It’s important that targeted eating disorder treatment also uncovers and treats any other disorders that are happening alongside the eating disorder.
