The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is the leading non-profit organization in the United States advocating on behalf of and supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders. Reaching millions every year, they campaign for prevention, improved access to quality treatment, and increased research funding to better understand and treat eating disorders.
It was an evening of distinguished speakers and exceptional entertainment, concluding with an intimate performance by singer/songwriter Mary Lambert. Mary recently performed her hit single “Same Love” with collaborators Macklemore and Ryan Lewis at the 2014 Grammy Awards.
The event also honored three individuals for their outstanding contributions in the field of eating disorders:
- Mika Brzezinski, Co-Host, MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” and author, for her courage in announcing, on the national stage, her struggle with an eating disorder.
- Ed Howard, Vice President, East Region & Global Account Aramark, for his continuous support of NEDA and for his strong advocacy among the corporate community for those with eating disorders.
- Russell Marx, MD Director of Programs, Eating Disorders Treatment and Research Center, UCSD and Chief Science Officer and Treasurer, NEDA, for his devotion and dedication to the field of eating disorders.
